ءَاثَـٰرِهِمۡ refers to traces or remains. It kinda gives you the imagry of the Kuffar wondering to their destruction and leaving footsteps or a trail behind, and Our Beloved Messenger (saw) following after them in a state of concern for them, and deep sadness for not being able to save them from this destruction. Jazakallah it is very beautiful; I did not know that Yusha (AS) was also a prophet; that means there were three prophets simultaneously in that period (Musa (AS), Haroon (AS) and Yusha (AS) .
The part differentiating the Secrets of Creation and Divine secrets is also very satisfying.
Please tell me, Can we say that every prophet is also a wali of Allah ?

One important note to those following this project. The author explains his formatting style in the following:

The text lying outside the parenthesis is the translation while that lying within the parenthesis is an addition to the translation. Although this was sufficient for demarcation, as an added precautionary measure a line has been drawn over the translation as an indication of the literal translation of the Qur’anic text.

In our rendering, we've chosen to use strong font to indicate the verses. In the case of Tafsiri statements, we've kept it out of the strong font. This deviation from the original was necessary because parenthesis serves as actual punctuation in English.. so we needed to have that available.

Regarding the first question, the assumed text (meaning intend such) was added because the statement is hypothetical.. and the ’shart’ portion means to punish and the ‘jazaa’ portion also means to punish. So it’s in the power of:

If he was to punish them, he would punish them.

Is it clear now why the shart needs to be understood as intending to punish as opposed to actual punishing? The two need to be different. If you have the original BQ, look in the footnote. He mentions it there in Arabic.

mawil is an ‘ism al-makan’ (derived noun indicating on place) from “wa a la” in the meaning of “laja a”, i.e. to take refuge.. so it would be similar to malja’ (place of refuge).
